They say that your best garden is always next year’s garden. Well, it’s early enough in the season that I can say with confidence that this year’s garden is going to be my best—or at least my best so far.
I have no excuse now not to have a great garden, what with this new job at Organic Gardening and all. I have vast catalogs of incredible gardening know-how at my fingertips. I have a wealth of experts and enthusiasts all around me. Yes, indeed, this year I have to crank it up a notch or two.
Now I’m not saying that previous years’ gardens were terrible. Something good has always come out my garden. All I’m saying is that this year is going to be great.
How exactly? Do you really want to hear about it? There is a part of me that’s reluctant to describe my big plans. What’s that joke? Q: How do you make God laugh? A: Have a plan. I’m not always sure what that joke means, but judging from things I’ve read and observations I’ve made, I’d be willing to wager that God likes gardens, so it may indeed be safe to disclose my big garden plans for this year.
