Holiday Gift Guide Show Round-Up

A little while back I got to attend the Holiday Gift Guide Show in New York, a media event where vendors can present their products for possible editorial coverage in various magazines. I was on the lookout for great products for gardeners, and I found a few winners. The best part is that you all don’t have to wait for our holiday issue to come out, because I’m going to tell you about them now!

The Spoonk Acupressure Massage Mat

The crazy (awesome) people at Spoonk let me take one of these home to try out, and boy does it work. The sharp nubbins all over the mat give an acupressure treatment as I lay on it in various position. It’s definitely an odd sensation, and your body will warm up as you lay on it, but it’s a great tool for gardeners who spend their time bent over weeds (and those bent over a computer). The great part is, the mat is 100% organic, and unzips from its pad for cleaning; so it can also be used as a garden mat that pulls double duty as it massages your knees and calves! I’ve become a big fan of this mat, you should definitely give it a try.

GreenPan

Okay, so true confession – I’ve been in love with GreenPan since I tried it at a product show back in April. So in love that I use mine constantly, and was genuinely excited when I found that they’d started selling it at Target. I love my stainless steel pots and pans, I really do, but sometimes a girl just wants non-stick, and this is the green solution. The patented Thermolon coating makes the non-stick completely safe, unlike other slick products, and I can tell you from experience that food (and cooking residue) slides right off of it. At the show they unveiled their stock pot and wok, two tools I can’t wait to try. Imagine – organic stir-fry without all of the sticky cleaning mess.

Aurora Glow String Lights

This beautiful strand of hand-blown, solar-powered lights made me wish I had a backyard where I could host an elegant party illuminated by the moon and these lights. The 2.5″ globes are powered by a small solar panel, and sense daylight, so they automatically illuminate when the sun goes down. The company, Allsop, makes other great solar-powered lanterns, but these are just so attractive, they were automatically my favorite.
